Relation of Russian political opposition towards the European Union in the period 2012-2022: alliance, hostility and a political alternative

Abstract:

V této práci použiji metodu komparativní analýzy k analýze toho, jaká byla percepce EU u subjektů ruské opozice v letech 2012-2022 ve vztahu ke konkrétním událostem. S použitím závěrů Alexandera Wendta ohledně tématu percepce aktérů v mezinárodních vztazích analyzuji stranické dokumenty, mediální výstupy a veřejná vyjádření týkající se EU jak u parlamentních, tak neparlamentních politických stran a jednotlivců. K tomuto účelu jsem si vybral Komunistickou stranu Ruské federace, Spravedlivé Rusko, Liberálně-demokratickou stranu Ruska a stranu Noví lidé jakožto parlamentní opozici (hlavní opoziční strany v osmé Státní dumě). Jako neparlamentní opozici jsem vybral jednu politickou stranu-PARNAS-a čtyři jednotlivce-Borise Němcova, Michaila Kasjanova, Vladimira Ryžkova a Alexeje Navalného. Tito čtyři jednotlivci představují nejviditelnější a nejaktivnější neformální vůdce ruské protiputinovské opozice během minulého desetiletí. Zkoumanými událostmi jsou anexe Krymu (2014), vražda Borise Němcova (2015), otrava Sergeje a Julie Skripalových (2018) a otrava Alexeje Navalného (2021).

Abstract:

In this work, I will use the method of comparative analysis to analyze what perception of the EU subjects of Russian opposition in the years 2012-2022 in relation with particular events had been. Using the conclusions of Alexander Wendt regarding the topic of perception of the actors in international relations, I will analyse party documents, media outputs and public standpoints of both parliamentary and non-parliamentary political parties and individuals, regarding the EU. For this purpose, I had chosen the Communist Party of Russian Federation, Just Russia, Liberal Democratic Party of Russia and the New People as the parliamentary oppositions (the main opposition parties in the State Duma of 8th convocation). As the non-parliamentary opposition, I had chosen one political party, PARNAS, and four individuals-Boris Nemtsov, Mikhail Kasyanov, Vladimir Ryzhkov and Alexei Navalny. These four individuals consist the most visible and the most active informal leaders of Russian anti-Putin opposition in the past decade. The examined events are the annexation of Crimea (2014), murder of Boris Nemtsov (2015), poisoning of Sergei and Julia Skripal (2018) and the poisoning of Alexei Navalny (2021).
