Care of premature children from the point of view nurses and parents

Abstract:

Cíl: Hlavním cílem výzkumné části práce bylo zachytit subjektivní vnímání péče o předčasně narozené děti na jednotce intenzivní a resuscitační péče o novorozence ze stran rodičů a porovnat to se subjektivním vnímáním ze strany ošetřovatelského personálu, který o tyto děti pečuje. Metodika: Pro kvalitativní výzkum byly metodou záměrného výběru zařazeny 4 matky, kterým se předčasně narodilo dítě před 32. týdnem gestace. Ze stran ošetřovatelského personálu byly požádány o spolupráci 4 sestry s délkou praxe minimálně 5 let. Pro sběr dat byl zvolen polostrukturovaný rozhovor. Výpovědi matek a sester byly zaznamenávány na diktafon a následně převedeny do psané formy. Při interpretaci získaných dat byly využity přímé citace participantů ze zachycených výpovědí. Výsledky: Na základě výsledků kvalitativní obsahové analýzy byly identifikovány 4 hlavní kategorie: Začátek hospitalizace, kontakt s dítětem, psychická podpora matek, komunikace. Z výpovědí participantů vyplynuly další subkategorie. Závěr: Sestry dokázaly přesně zhodnotit prožívání, pocity i potřeby rodičů během hospitalizace. Strach a obavy z budoucnosti jsou nejčastěji emoce, které matky prožívají v průběhu hospitalizace. Jako nejdůležitější potřebu uvedly být potřebné pro dítě. Při fyzickém kontaktu matky poprvé prožily reálnost dítěte a naplnění rodičovské role. Matky hodnotily edukaci a informovanost jako bezproblémovou. Dostupnost rozporuplných informací na internetu negativně ovlivňuje prožívání rodičů a vzájemnou spolupráci s personálem. Rodiče, kteří se brzy stanou součástí péče o svého nezralého novorozence, jsou méně úzkostní a získávají pocit kontroly nad nastalou situací

Abstract:

ABSTRACT Aim: The main aim of the research part was to capture the subjective perception of the care of prematurely born children in the unit of intensive and resuscitation care for newborns by their parents and to compare it with the subjective perception of nursing staff caring for these babies. Methodology: For qualitative research, four mothers of children born before 32nd week of gestation were selected using the intentional selection method. From the side of nursing staff, four nurses with a minimum of 5 years of experience were asked to participate in the research. A semi-structured interview was chosen for data collection. The statements of mothers and nurses were recorded and then converted into written form. Direct citations of participants statements were used for the interpretation of the obtained data. Results: Based on the results of qualitative content analysis, four main categories were identified: beginning of hospitalization, contact with the child, psychological support of mothers and communication. Other subcategories emerged from the participants' statements. Conclusion: The nurses were able to accurately evaluate the experience, feelings, and needs of the parents during the hospitalization. Fear and anxiety about the future are the most common emotions which mothers experience during the hospitalization. They reported that their most important need is to be there for their baby. During physical contact, they experienced for the first time the reality of having a baby and the fulfillment of their parental role. Mothers evaluated education and awareness as unproblematic. Availability of conflicting information on the Internet negatively affects the parent's experience and mutual cooperation with the staff. Parents who soon become a part of the care of their immature newborn are less anxious and gain control over the situation.
