Needs of Children with ADHD and their Parents in Primary Care

Abstract:

Aim: The main objective of the research is to identify and analyse the needs and living of children with ADHD and their parents in primary care. The partial goal is to identify needs and living of children with ADHD and their parents. The second partial goal is to analyse the needs and living of these children and their parents. Methodology: The chosen method of collecting data was by semi-structured in-depth interviews for qualitative research. The research sample consisted of 7 families, which visit the ambulance of child and adolescent psychiatry with diagnosis of ADHD. After the interviews were transcribed, the organization of the material was done, unnecessary data were reduced, and the other were categorized for the following interpretation. Subsequently, analysis of results has been compiled describing individual phenomena resulting from the research. Results: It has been found that certain needs of children with ADHD diagnosis and their parents are in the foreground. These needs include the need of education, the need of health care and the need of social care. At the same time, it was found that certain bio-psycho-social needs are not affected by the diagnosis. These needs include for example, the need of sleep, rest, warmth, light, the need of a sense of the world and one's own identity. Conclusion: As was mentioned, in sphere of basic living needs, there are certain changes of ADHD diagnose which are confirmed by many studies. The changes mainly affect needs in sphere of education, healthcare and social care. At the same time, some of the basic bio psycho-social needs do not change. In the biological field, sleep, nutrition, rest, warmth can be mentioned. In the psychic area, certainty, meaningfulness of the world and opened future. In the field of social needs, the need of love. The needs that affect children with ADHD and their parents should be also targeted by health professionals, doctors, educators and social workers because they have the biggest impact on these needs.

Abstract:

Cieľ: Hlavným cieľom výskumu je identifikovať a analyzovať potreby a prežívanie u detí s ADHD a ich rodičov v primárnej starostlivosti. Čiastkovým cieľom je identifikovať potreby a prežívanie u detí s ADHD a ich rodičov. Druhým čiastkovým cieľom je analyzovať potreby a prežívanie týchto detí a ich rodičov. Metodika: Pre kvalitatívny výskum bola zvolená metóda zberu dát pomocou pološtrukturovaného rozhovoru. Výskumný súbor tvorilo 7 rodín, ktoré dochádzali so svojimi deťmi do ambulancie detskej a dorastovej psychiatrie s diagnózou ADHD. Po transkripcii rozhovorov bola vykonaná organizácia materiálu, kedy boli nepotrebné dáta zredukované a ostatné boli kategorizované pre nasledujúcu interpretáciu. Následne bola zostavená analýza výsledkov, ktorá popisuje jednotlivé javy vychádzajúce z výskumného šetrenia. Výsledky: Bolo zistené, že určité potreby sú u detí s diagnózou ADHD a ich rodičov v popredí. Medzi tieto potreby patrí predovšetkým potreba vzdelávania, potreba zdravotnej starostlivosti a potreba sociálnej starostlivosti. Zároveň bolo zistené, že určité bio psycho sociálne potreby nie sú danou diagnózou ovplyvňované. K týmto potrebám patrí napríklad potreba spánku, odpočinku, tepla, svetla, potreba zmysluplnosti sveta a vlastnej identity. Záver: Ako bolo uvedené, v oblasti základných životných potrieb sú u diagnózy ADHD určité zmeny, ktoré potvrdzujú i mnohé výskumy. Zmeny sa týkajú predovšetkým potrieb v oblasti vzdelávania, zdravotnej starostlivosti a sociálnej starostlivosti. Zároveň sa niektoré základné bio-psycho-sociálne potreby nemenia. V oblasti biologickej je možné uviesť spánok, výživu, odpočinok, teplo. V psychickej oblasti istotu, zmysluplnosť sveta a otvorenú budúcnosť. V oblasti sociálnych potrieb potrebu lásky. Na potreby, ktoré ovplyvňujú deti s ADHD a ich rodičov, by sa mali zamerať i zdravotníci, lekári, pedagógovia a sociálny pracovníci, pretože práve oni majú na tieto potreby najväčší vplyv.
