Means of destigmatization people with mental illness

Abstract:

Předmětem bakalářské práce je výzkum vnímání tématu destigmatizace duševního onemocnění z pohledu osob s duševním onemocněním. Práce se zabývá možnými prostředky destigmatizace osob s duševním onemocněním z pohledu prevence sociálního vyloučení a znevýhodnění ve společnosti. V teoretické části se práce zaměřuje obecně na vysvětlení stěžejních pojmů, na popis specifické cílové skupiny a shrnutí vybraných destigmatizačních aktivit a projektů realizovaných v České republice. Empirická část práce zkoumá vnímání tématu destigmatizace z pohledu osob s duševním onemocněním pomocí polostrukturovaného rozhovoru s vybranými respondenty. Kvalitativní rozhovor cílenými otázkami zkoumá potřeby, přání, sny a životní jistoty, obavy a bariéry při jejich naplňování a zkušenosti respondentů se stigmatizací a diskriminací. Hlavním cílem výzkumného šetření je zkoumat, zda lidé s duševním onemocněním mají zájem participovat na vlastní destigmatizaci.

Abstract:

The subject matter of this bachelor thesis is an exploration of the perception of a topic destigmatizating mental illness from the perspective of patients with a mental disorder. The study deals with possible means of destigmatization of people with mental health problems from the perspective of social exclusion and social handicap prevention. The theoretical part of this work aims to explain in broad terms the crucial concepts, to give description of the specific target group and also to summarize chosen destigmatization activities and projects that are implemented in the Czech Republic. The empirical part of the work explores the perception of the topic destigmatization from the point of view of people with a mental illness with the help of a semistructured interview with selected respondents. The qualitative interview with specific questions explores the needs, wishes, dreams and social assurances, worries and obstacles in making these becoming real and also the experiences of the respondents with stigmatization and discrimination. The main goal of the research investigation is to explore whether people with a mental illness are interested in participating in their own process of destigmatization.
