Problems of verbal aspect in French and possibilities of its expression

Abstract:

The present thesis deals with the problem of verbal aspect in French and other Romance languages with a special respect to Slavonic languages. The attention has been, above all, concentrated on the problem of verbal aspect perceived as a verbal category and various conceptions of the given problem in Romance linguistics. The perception of aspect as an opposition of completeness and incompleteness of an action and the consequent differentiation with the regard to the character of a verbal action (Aktionsart) has been emphasized. An attention has also been devoted to mutual relations of aspect and tense in contemporary French with the respect to the development of Romance and other Indo-European languages. The whole work gives us an overview of concrete possibilities of expression of verbal aspect in contemporary French. It has been divided into three parts morphological, syntactical and lexical instruments.

Abstract:

Disertační práce se zabývá problematikou slovesného vidu ve francouzštině a v románských jazycích vůbec s přihlédnutím k jazykům slovanským. Věnuje se zejména problematice vidu jako slovesné kategorie a různým koncepcím slovesného vidu v románské jazykovědě. Klade důraz na chápání vidu jako opozice globálního a neglobálního pojetí děje a na jeho důsledné odlišování od povahy slovesného děje (Aktionsart). Zabývá se rovněž vzájemným vztahem vidu a času v současné francouzštině s ohledem na vývoj románských i jiných indoevropských jazyků. Práce dále podává přehled konkrétních možností vyjádření vidu v současné francouzštině, rozčleněných na prostředky morfologické, syntaktické a lexikální.
