Monitoring of sports applications and their use

Abstract:

Cíl: Účelem této diplomové práce s názvem Sportovní aplikace a důvody k jejich používání běžci České republiky, je obeznámit veřejnost, jak je důležité vykonávat pohybovou aktivitu a jaké následky s sebou nese pohybová inaktivita. Práce také podává informace o možnostech monitorace pohybové aktivity, především o sportovních aplikacích. Další záměr práce je seznámit veřejnost s motivačními prvky, se kterými aplikace nejčastěji pracují, a navíc s motivací obecně. Hlavním cílem práce je zjištění, jaká je hlavní prvotní motivace běžců k pořízení a dále k pravidelnému užívání sportovních aplikací, a zda mají sportovní aplikace vliv na motivaci k pohybu. Metodika: Praktická část práce je řešena formou dotazníku, spuštěného na jaře 2022 pomocí Google Formuláře. Cílová skupina byli čeští běžci, respondenti měli možnost dotazník vyplnit na běžeckých závodech nebo na sociálních sítích. Dotazníkového šetření se zúčastnilo celkem 529 lidí, z toho 471 běžců, kteří používají sportovní aplikaci. Výsledky: Nejčastějším a hlavním důvodem pořízení aplikace u běžců byla možnost mít přehled tréninků a statistik výkonů (66,2%). Následovaly důvody jako: zvýšení motivace pomocí různých funkcí aplikace (10,6%) a začít se sportem, popř. se zlepšit (7,2%). Motivace k dalšímu používání byla téměř totožná, totiž hlavní důvod, proč běžci používají aplikaci nadále, byla opět funkce přehledů aktivit a statistiky (81,5%). Další z častých odpovědí bylo zvýšení motivace pomocí různých funkcí aplikace (10,6%) a motivace zlepšit své zdraví (3%). Dotazníkové šetření také potvrdilo, že většina (74,4%) respondentů věří, že je aplikace motivuje k častějšímu pohybu. Pouze 4,9% respondentů si vůbec nemyslí, že je aplikace motivuje k pohybu. Závěr: Pohybová aktivita je nezbytnou součástí v životě člověka. Dotazníkové šetření prokázalo, že nadpoloviční většina dotazovaných běžců se domnívá, že je aplikace motivuje se častěji hýbat. Důvody používaní a pořízení sportovních aplikací jsou různé, nejvíce je však využívaná funkce přehledů tréninků a statistik.

Abstract:

The main objective: The aim of this diploma thesis called Sport applications and reasons for their use by runners of the Czech Republic is to show the importance of the physical activity and the consequences of the inactivity. The work also provides information of the possibilities of physical activity monitoring, especially of sports applications. Another aim of the thesis is to apprise the public with the motivational elements with which applications most often work, and moreover with motivation in general. Nevertheless, the main purpose of this work is to find reasons, why the runners actually use the sport apps and if there is an association between using the applications and bigger motivation to move. Methodology: The practical part of the work is solved in the form of a questionnaire, launched in the spring of 2022 using Google Forms. The target group was runners from Czech Republic. Respondents had the opportunity to fill out a questionnaire at some races or on social networks. A total of 529 people took part in the questionnaire survey, of which 471 runners used the sports application. Results: The most common and main reason for purchasing the application for runners was the opportunity to have an overview of training and performance statistics (66.2%). This was followed by reasons such as: increasing motivation through various features of the application (10.6%) and beginning with some sport activity, or to improve in some sport activity (7.2%). The motivation for further use was almost the same, as the main reason why runners continue to use the application was again the function of activity reports and statistics (81.5%). Another common response was to increase motivation through various application features (10.4%) and motivation to improve your health (3%). The questionnaire survey also confirmed that the majority (74.4%) of respondents believe that the application motivates them to move. Only 4.9% of respondents do not think at all that the application motivates them to move. Summary: Physical activity is an essential part of human life. In this work, we have shown that the majority of runners think that the application motivates them to move more. The reasons for using and purchasing sports applications are different, but the most used function is training overviews and statistics.
