The evaluation of seniors´psychosocial needs in palliative care

Abstract:

Aim: The aim of this work was to study the psychosocial needs among seniors in palliative care. Ascertain the degree of importance of psychological and social needs of senior citizens in the Czech Republic and Slovakia, check occupancy spiritual needs of seniors in the Czech Republic and Slovakia, to detect a difference in the importance of the needs of seniors in the Czech Republic and Slovakia, determine which needs are more important for men and women and detect a difference in survival between men and women pain. Methodic: The investigation, which took place from September 2012 to January 2013 was the chosen method for the quantitative questionnaire survey using two standardized questionnaires. Exploratory group consisted of 150 patients from oncology clinics of easy and Ruzomberok and palliative care units of Cadca. Research was conducted five months for Oncology and palliative care. It was used a standardized questionnaire and interview PNAP the range HADS depression and anxiety. Was used for the evaluation of Mann-Whitney U-test. Statistical tests were evaluated at a significance level of 5%. Results: in this set and the selected sample, we found that psychosocial needs in the Czech Republic and Slovakia differ significantly only in some domains and it is physical, social and psychological needs which is the difference in their survival in the Czech Republic and Slovakia. In Slovakia patients require more attention and importance of fulfilling their needs as patients in the Czech Republic. Furthermore, we found that the rate of anxiety and depression in the Czech Republic and Slovakia also significantly different, and those are the anxiety scale for all four bands in both republics and the depression scale is in grave no band, no patients were of either the Republic. Conclusion: Although the results were on the whole satisfactory, we should not neglect them, and we should pay more attention to patients' needs in palliative care, whether psychological, social and spiritual needs, and if we ask for something, we should not reject it, on the contrary, he accepted. And of course to approach each individual.

Abstract:

Cieľ: Cieľom tejto práce bolo zmapovať psychosociálne potreby u seniorov v paliatívnej starostlivosti. Zistiť mieru dôležitosti psychických a sociálnych potrieb seniorov v Česku a na Slovensku, zistiť naplnenosť spirituálnych potrieb u seniorov v Česku a na Slovensku, zistiť rozdiel v dôležitosti potrieb u seniorov v Česku a na Slovensku, zistiť, ktoré potreby sú dôležitejšie u mužov a žien a zistiť rozdiel v prežívaní bolesti mužov a žien. Metodika: Pre šetrenie, ktoré prebehlo v období od septembra 2012 do januára 2013 bola zvolená metóda kvantitatívneho dotazníkového šetrenia pomocou dvoch štandardizovaných dotazníkov. Prieskumný súbor tvorilo 150 pacientov z onkologických kliník z Ostravy a z Ružomberka a z oddelenia paliatívnej starostlivosti z Čadce. Výskum bol realizovaný päť mesiacov na onkologických klinikách a na oddelení paliatívnej starostlivosti. Bol použitý štandardizovaný dotazník PNAP a dotazník na škálu depresie a úzkosti HADS. Pre hodnotenie bol použitý Mann- Whitney U-test. Štatistické testy boli hodnotené na hladine významnosti 5%. Výsledky: v rámci tohto súboru a tejto vybratej vzorky sme zistili, že psychosociálne potreby sa v Česku a na Slovensku podstatne nelíšia, iba v niektorých doménach a to sú fyzické, sociálne a psychické potreby kde je rozdiel v ich prežívaní v Česku a na Slovensku. Na Slovensku pacienti vyžadujú väčšiu pozornosť a dôležitosť plnenia ich potrieb ako pacienti v Českej Republike. Ďalej sme zistili, že miera úzkosti a depresie sa v Česku a na Slovensku tiež výrazne nelíši a pacienti sa nachádzajú na škále úzkosti na všetkých štyroch pásmach v obidvoch Republikách a na škále depresie sa vo vážnom pásme nenachádza ani jeden pacient z ani jednej Republiky. Záver: Aj napriek tomu že výsledky boli v celku uspokojivé nemali by sme ich zanedbávať a mali by sme si viac všímať pacientove potreby v paliatívnej starostlivosti či ide o psychické, sociálne alebo spirituálne potreby a ak nás o niečo požiada, nemali by sme ho odmietnuť, ale naopak mu vyhovieť. A samozrejme pristupovať ku každému individuálne.
