Acting and Christian Liturgy: Collisions and Mutual Inspiration

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce se zabývá podobnostmi a rozdíly mezi theatralitou a křesťanskou praxí. Hledá původ některých aspektů herecké práce v liturgii a liturgie v divadle. Snaží se nahlédnout kolize k nimž může dojít sloučením herecké praxe a praktikované křesťanské víry (zejména katolické). Například problematiku podobnosti hereckého prožívání či práce s objektem a prožíváním vztahu k Eucharistii. Jejím cílem je jednak snaha nabídnout divadelnímu prostředí méně známé inspirační zdroje z oblasti křesťanské liturgie a praxe. Dále je cílem přispět ke zlepšení způsobu slavení liturgie zvýšením povědomí o performativní povaze a možnostech současné katolické liturgie. V neposlední řadě je cílem přispět k aktivisaci nevelkého okruhu věřících a praktikujících herců a divadlem se zaobírajících, kteří mohou být často paralisováni problémy v práci zmíněnými.

Abstract:

This thesis explores the similarities and differences between theatricality and Christian practice. It looks for the origins of some aspects of acting in liturgy and liturgy in theatre. It seeks to describe the collisions that can occur through the merging of acting practice and practiced Christian faith (especially Catholic faith). For example, the issue of the similarity between acting or working with an object and experiencing a relationship with the Eucharist. On the one hand, it seeks to offer lesser-known sources of inspiration from the field of Christian liturgy and practice to the theatre community. It also aims to contribute to improving the way the liturgy is celebrated by raising awareness of the performative nature and possibilities of contemporary Catholic liturgy. Last but not least, the aim is to contribute to the activation of a small group of faithful and practicing actors and theatre practitioners who may often be paralyzed by the issues mentioned in the thesis.
