Karcinomy v oblasti hlavy a krku jsou celosvětově šestým nejčastějším nádorovým onemocněním. Přibližně 70 % pacientů má pokročilé stádium onemocnění a část z nich (cca 20 %) špatně reaguje na radioterapii či chemoradioterapie. Head and neck cancers are the sixth most common cancer worldwide. Approximately 70% of patients have advanced disease and some of them (about 20%) respond poorly to radiotherapy or chemoradiotherapy.
