Effects of Quantitative Easing in the United States of America, Japan, Great Britain and the Eurozone

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá analýzou efektu kvantitativního uvolňování v USA, Japonsku, Velké Británii a Eurozóně. Teoretická část je zaměřena na vymezení pojmu kvantitativního uvolňování a pasti likvidity, přičemž dále srovnává tuto nekonvenční měnovou politiku s politikou kvalitativního uvolňování a tiskem nových peněz. V následujících podkapitolách teoretické části práce jsou vymezeny jednotlivé fáze politiky kvantitativního uvolňování s využitím příkladu USA a popsány hlavní transmisní mechanismy těchto programů. Analytická část práce se zabývá samotnými efekty kvantitativního uvolňování v daných ekonomikách prostřednictvím analýzy vlivu na vysvětlující ekonomické indikátory, kterými jsou kapitálový trh, míra inflace a nezaměstnanosti, měnový kurz a úroková sazba. Závěrečná podkapitola praktické části následně porovnává efekty kvantitativního uvolňování ve zkoumaných zemích.

Abstract:

The thesis deals with the analysis of the effects of quantitative easing in the United States of America, Japan, Great Britain and the Eurozone. The theoretical part is focused on defining the concept of quantitative easing and the liquidity trap, followed by the comparison of this unconventional monetary policy with the policy of qualitative easing and money creation. In the subchapters of the theoretical part, the individual phases of quantitative easing are outlined using the example of the United States, followed by the description of the main transmission channels of these programs. The analytical part deals with the effects of quantitative easing in the economies under study, focusing on the exploration of explanatory economic indicators such as capital market, inflation rate and unemployment rate, exchange rate and interest rate. The final subchapter of the analytical part of the thesis then compares the effects of quantitative easing in the countries under study.
