The relationship of individual differences in self-regulation, integrative self-knowledge and meaningfulness in life, with eudaimonic well-being of people from social rehabilitation systems compared with common population

Abstract:

According to personality systems interaction (PSI) theory degree of the individual differences in self-regulation can significantly influence a human behavior and state of his mind. For that reason, this diploma thesis is orientated on exploration of the relationships between degree of the individual differences in self-regulation – degree of action orientation after failure and degree of prospective action orientation – and degree of chosen concepts of positive functioning – degree of integrative self-knowledge, meaning in the life and degree of eudaimonic well-being. Another main objective of this diploma thesis is examination of the relationship between degree of the particular action orientations, integrative self-knowledge, meaning in the life and degree of eudaimonic well-being. This diploma thesis is aimed to examination of differences in degrees of studied variables between group of the respondents from social rehabilitation and respondents from common population and group of action vs. state orientated respondents. Secondary aim of the diploma thesis is examination of the relationships or differences between degrees of studied variables and various descriptive variables like age, satisfaction with the relationships, presence of the mental problems, type of the parent’s marital relationship or manner of child upbringing of the respondents. Studied population consists of the clients from the social rehabilitation centers (N = 102) and people from the common population (N = 106). Results of correlation analyze indicate that between degrees of action orientation and degrees of chosen concepts of positive functioning exist weak or middle-sized relationships. From the results of the other analyses is emerged that mainly degree of meaning in life, integrative self-knowledge and prospective action orientation can predict degree of eudaimonic well-being. Moreover, the results indicate that group of respondents from the common population have higher degree of integrative self-knowledge, meaning in life and eudaimonic well-being as group of people from the social rehabilitation centers. Differences are discovered also in type of action orientations; the action orientated respondents have higher degree of studied variable as state orientated respondents in all studied populations. The last analyses indicate for example that type of parent’s marital relationship has influence on degree of action orientation after failure, or that presence of the mental problems has influence on degree of this variable. These results in the context of the personality systems interaction theory and in the context of other research studies are discussed at the end of the diploma thesis.

Abstract:

Miera individuálnych rozdielov v seba-regulácii môže podľa teórie interakcie systémov osobnosti (ISO) významne ovplyvňovať správanie a prežívanie človeka (Kuhl, 2000). Z tohto dôvodu sa táto diplomová práca v prvom rade orientovala na preskúmanie súvislostí medzi mierami individuálnych rozdielov v seba-regulácii – mierou činnostnej orientácie po zlyhaní a mierou prospektívnej činnostnej orientácie – a mierami vybraných konceptov pozitívneho fungovania – mierou integračného sebapoznania, zmysluplnosti života a mierou eudaimonickej pohody. K ďalším ústredným cieľom tejto práce patrilo preskúmanie súvislostí medzi mierou jednotlivých činnostných orientácií, integračného sebapoznania, zmysluplnosti života a mierou eudaimonickej pohody. Práca sa tiež zamerala na preskúmanie rozdielov v mierach skúmaných premenných medzi výskumnými súbormi respondentov z resocializačných zariadení a respondentov z bežnej populácie a súbormi činnostne vs. stavovo orientovaných respondentov. Sekundárnym cieľom práce bolo preskúmanie existencie súvislostí či rozdielov medzi mierami výskumných premenných a rôznymi popisnými premennými ako vek, spokojnosť s blízkymi vzťahmi, prítomnosť psychických problémov, typom manželského vzťahu rodičov či spôsobom výchovy respondentov v jednotlivých výskumných súboroch. Výskumný súbor pozostával z klientov resocializačných zariadení (N = 102) a ľudí z bežnej populácie (N = 106). Výsledky korelačnej analýzy poukázali na existenciu slabých až stredne silných vzťahov medzi mierami jednotlivých činnostných orientácií a mierami vybraných konceptov pozitívneho fungovania. Z výsledkov ďalších štatistických analýz vyplynulo, že v tejto štúdií predikuje mieru eudaimonickej pohody najmä miera zmysluplnosti života, integračného sebapoznania a prospektívnej činnostnej orientácie. Ďalšie výsledky poukázali, že výskumná skupina z bežnej populácie dosahovala vyššiu mieru integračného sebapoznania, zmysluplnosti života a eudaimonickej pohody ako skupina respondentov z resocializačných zariadení. Rozdiely boli tiež objavené medzi jednotlivými typmi činnostnej orientácie, pričom činnostne orientovaní respondenti dosahovali vyššiu mieru skúmaných premennýchako stavovo orientovaní respondenti vo všetkých výskumný súboroch. Posledné analýzy tiež poukázali napr. na vplyv typu manželstva rodičov na mieru činnostnej orientáciepo zlyhaní či vplyv prítomnosti psychických problémov na mieru tejto premennej.Tieto výsledky sú v závere tejto práce diskutované v kontexte teórie interakcie systémov osobnosti a kontexte iných výskumných štúdií.
