Comparative Analysis of the Novel "We" by Y. Zamyatin and the Novel "1984" by George Orwell

Abstract:

The diploma thesis "Comparative Analysis of the Novel We by Y. Zamyatin and the Novel 1984 by George Orwell" is focused on the comp?rison of two important antiutopic novels of the 20th century, in which the authors managed to be significantly ahead of their time. The thesis also draw attention to the importance of the antiutopic novel We by excellent Russian writer, who was unfortunately forgotten due to the adversity of his time. The thesis is divided into seven chapters and it consists of theoretical and practical parts. The theoretical part pays close attention to the characteristics of utopia, antiutopia, bibliography and literary works of Y. Zamyatin and G. Orwell. The practical part is aimed on the origin, storyline, and detailed comparison of the motives of the world famous novel 1984 and the first antiutopic novel in Russian literature of the 20th century, We.

Abstract:

Diplomová práce s názvem "Komparativní analýza románu My J. I. Zamjatina a románu 1984 George Orwella" je zaměřená na srovnání dvou významných antiutopických románů 20. století, ve kterých se autorům podařilo výrazně předběhnout svou dobu. Diplomová práce má také upozornit na významnost antiutopického románu My výborného ruského spisovatele, který, bohužel kvůli nepřízni své doby, upadl i se svou literární tvorbou do zapomnění. Práce je rozdělena do sedmi kapitol a skládá se z teoretické a praktické části. Teoretická část je věnována charakteristickým rysům utopie, antiutopie, bibliografii a literární tvorbě J. I. Zamjatina a G. Orwella. Praktická část je zaměřená na vznik, dějovou linii a podrobné srovnání motivů světově známého románu 1984 a prvního antiutopického románu v ruské literatuře 20. století, My.
