Sacral and profane attributes of banishing Morena tradition - their reflection in artistic work

Abstract:

Hlavním tématem této práce je zkoumání sakrálních a profánních prvků tradice vynášení Morény a jejich využití v umělecké a lidové reprezentaci obyčeje i postavy Morény samotné. Magisterská práce nejprve analyzuje teorie o původu vzniku lidového zvyku vynášení Smrtnice. Na základě analýz identifikuje sakrální a profánní prvky v něm obsažené. Následně určí, které z atributů jsou přejímány v umělecké tvorbě a jakým způsobem je tento fenomén představován uměleckou reprezentací.

Abstract:

The main topic of this work is the investigation of the sacred and profane elements of the tradition of the banishing of the Moréna and their use in the artistic and folk representation of the custom and the character of the Moréna itself. The master's thesis first analyzes theories about the origin of the folk custom of the banishing of the figure of Death. Based on the analyses, it identifies the sacred and profane elements contained in the custom. Subsequently, the thesis will determine which of the attributes are adopted in artistic creation and in what way this phenomenon is represented by artistic representation.
