Transforming a Czech firm into a low-carbon economy

Abstract:

Cílem diplomové práce je nalezení odpovědí na výzkumnou otázku, zda představuje nízkouhlíková ekonomika příležitost či hrozbu pro vybraný český podnik. Praktická část práce se zaměřuje na návrh způsobů, jakými lze dekarbonizaci ve vybraném podniku, působícím v cihlářském průmyslu provést. Práce se bude jednak snažit ukázat, do jaké míry umožňuje struktura podniku celkové emisní plyny snížit. Tyto výsledky budou porovnány s cíli Zelené dohody pro Evropu, tvořící hlavní pilíř dlouhodobé strategie EU, která usiluje o snížení emisní stopy o 55 % do roku 2030 a o dosažení klimatické neutrality do roku 2050. V závěrečné části bude provedena finanční analýza a zhodnocení, zda se podniku investice do snížení emisní stopy vyplatí i z hlediska financí. Vedle toho bude vypracována analýza současných dotačních programů, které by mohly část těchto nákladů financovat.

Abstract:

The aim of the thesis is to find answers to the research question whether the low-carbon economy represents an opportunity or a threat for a selected Czech firm. The practical part of the thesis focuses on the proposal of ways in which decarbonisation can be implemented in the selected company operating in the brickwork industry. On the one hand, the thesis will try to demonstrate the degree of possible reducing of total carbon footprint that the structure of the enterprise allows to. These results will be compared with the objectives of the European Green Deal, the main pillar of the EU's long-term strategy, which aims to reduce the carbon footprint by 55 % by 2030 and to achieve climate neutrality by 2050. Finally, a financial analysis will be carried out to assess whether the investment in reducing the carbon footprint is worthwhile in financial terms. In addition, an analysis will be made of current subsidy programmes that could finance part of these costs.
