Abstract:

Diplomová práca poukazuje na benefity učenia anglického jazyka s použitím literatúry na základe románu Domček v prérii od L.I.Wilder. Diplomová práca pozostáva z ôsmich plánov vyučovacích hodín, ktoré obsahujú texty zo spomínaného románu a aktivity vytvorené na základe daných textov, ktoré napomáhajú k zdokonaleniu znalostí anglického jazyka, kultúrnej uvedomelosti a osobnému rozvoju študentov. Cieľom tejto práce je poskytnúť praktické príklady rôznych spôsobov využitia literárnych textov v hodinách anglického jazyka, ktoré môžu študentom prispieť tak v rámci jazykového ako aj osobného rozvoja napríklad tým, že sa študenti stanú kultúrne uvedomelejšími alebo tým, že sa bude rozvíjať ich kritické myslenie.

Abstract:

The thesis discusses the benefits of teaching English through literature with focus on the novel \textit{Little House on the Prairie} by L.I.Wilder. It includes eight lesson plans each of which consists of a text from the novel which is accompanied by various activities promoting language skills, cultural awareness or personal development. The aim of the thesis is to provide practical examples of different ways how to work with literary texts in English as a foreign language classes which learners may immensely benefit from both language-wise and on a personal level, for instance by becoming more culturally aware or by developing critical thinking.
