Young adults in contemporary Czech society also with a European policy perspective

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis focuses on following the change in the current life course of the young adults comparing the life course of the previous generation, and so generation of their parents. The basis of the thesis is Arnett´s concept of emerging adulthood, accordingly today's young adults don´t meet the characteristics of the adulthood. This theory rejects to access the identity of the young adult through the pluralism age explanation, the theory does not identify with the argument, that today's young adults fall under the category of the adolescent. This approach thus allows to compare the current state of young adulthood with the "real one", but also with the adulthood of the past generation, allows a comparison with the adolescence too. By using this comparison are captured phenomena, such as the destandardization, the deinstitutionalization, but also the differentiation. Another question that arises from the observed change is the ability of the contemporary society to react to it. The thesis offers from this perspective the insight into the topic of European politicians, whose role is to integrate young adult into the global world. Finally, the thesis deals with the ensuing consequences of a young adult identity in the society through three theories, namely The Theory of the Leisure Class, the theory of the Liquid Modernity and the theory of the Risk Society.

Abstract:

Tato bakalárska práca sleduje zmenu v oblasti súčasných životných dráh mladých dospelých v porovnaní životných dráh predchádzajúcej generácie a teda generácie ich rodičov. Podkladom pre túto prácu je Arnettov koncept vynárajúcej sa dospelosti, podľa ktorého dnešný mladý dospelý nenaplňujú znaky dospelosti. Táto teória odmieta k identite mladého dospelého pristupovať skrz vysvetlenie pluralizácie veku, nestotožňuje sa s tvrdením, že súčasní mladí dospelí spadajú pod kategóriu adolescent. Tento prístup, tak dovoľuje porovnávať súčasný stav mladej dospelosti s tou „skutočnou“ ale i s dospelosťou minulej generácie, umožňuje aj zrovnanie s adolescenciou. Pomocou tohto zrovnávania sú zachytené javy ako deštandardizácia, deinštitucionalizácia ale i diferenciácia. Ďalšia otázka, ktorá plynie z pozorovanej zmeny je schopnosť súčasnej spoločnosti na ňu reagovať. Z tohto pohľadu, tak práca ponúka vzhľad do témy európskych politík, ktorých úlohou je integrovať mladé dospelého do globálneho sveta. V poslednom rade sa práca zaoberá plynúcimi dôsledkami identity mladého dospelého v spoločnosti pomocou troch teórií a to záhaľčivej triedy, tekutej modernity a rizikovej spoločnosti.
