Comprehensive care of patients with apallic syndrome (vegetative state)

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zabývá problematikou komplexní péče o pacienty s apalickým syndromem a dále informovaností vysokoškolských studentů o apalickém syndromu. Je rozdělena na část teoretickou a praktickou. V teoretické části práce popisujeme stručně anatomii a neurofyziologii centrálního nervového systému. Dále se věnujeme poruchám vědomí, především vegetativního stavu. V další části podrobně popisujeme apalický syndrom, epidemiologii, historii, apalický symptomový komplex, příčiny, komplikace, terapii a prognózu Dále se zmiňujeme o specializovaných zařízeních pro tyto pacienty. V závěrečné kapitole teoretické části se věnujeme komplexní péči o pacienty s apalickým syndromem, podrobně popisujeme péči o jednotlivé systémy a bazální stimulaci. Podrobně probíráme koncept a techniky Bazální stimulace. V praktické části jsme u dvou konkrétních pacientů s apalickým syndromem zjišťovali pomocí kazuistik specifika komplexní péče. Pomocí dotazníkového šetření jsme zkoumali informovanost vysokoškolských studentů nelékařských zdravotnických oborů o apalickém syndromu.

Abstract:

Bachelor thesis deals with the comprehensive care of patients with apallic syndrome and awareness of university students about apallic syndrome. It is divided into theoretical and practical part. In the theoretical section we briefly describe the anatomy and neurophysiology of the central nervous system. Furthermore, we pursue the impaired consciousness, primarily a vegetative state. In the next section we describe a persistent vegetative state, epidemiology, history, apallic symptom complex, causes, complications, treatment and prognosis. In addition, we refer to specialized facilities for these patients. In the final chapter of the theoretical part we are dedicated to comprehensive care of patients with apallic syndrome, and describe in detail the care of individual systems and basal stimulation. We closely discuss the concept and techniques of basal stimulation. In the practical part we ascertaine using the casuistries the specifics of comprehensive care in two individual patients with the persistent vegetative state. Using the questionnaire, we examined the awareness of university students of the other paramedic courses of study about apallic syndrome.
