Tato diplomová práce se zabývá identifikačními doklady občanů České republiky, konkrétně občanským průkazem a cestovním pasem. Práce je rozdělena na jednotlivé části v nichž je popsán vývoj identifikačních dokladů, jejich podoba a náležitosti, proces vydávání těchto dokladů a problémy s nimi související.
