Comparison of pension systems of the Czech Republic and Denmark as of 2019

Abstract:

Práce se zabývá komparací penzijních systémů České republiky a Dánska k roku 2019. Jejím cílem je porovnat systémy daných zemí a následně navrhnout doporučení pro penzijní systém České republiky. Systémy jsou porovnávány prostřednictvím ekonomických a demografických ukazatelů. V kontextu penzijních systémů je demografický vývoj obyvatelstva méně příznivý pro Českou republiku a tento vývoj je predikován i do budoucna. Česká republika za Dánskem zaostává také v ekonomických ukazatelích HDP na hlavu a průměrné mzdy, míru nezaměstnanosti má však dlouhodobě nižší. Z popisu obou důchodových systémů vyplývá, že dánský systém je na budoucí problém stárnutí populace lépe připraven a je celkově kvalitnější. Vykazuje vyšší míru náhradového poměru a je postaven na více pilířích. Mezi hlavní doporučení pro penzijní systém České republiky patří znovuzavedení druhého pilíře a zvyšování důchodového věku.

Abstract:

This thesis deals with the comparison of the pension systems of the Czech Republic and Denmark for the year 2019. The aim of the thesis is to compare the systems of the given countries and to give recommendations for the pension system of the Czech Republic. The author compares the systems through economic and demographic indicators. In the context of pension systems, the demographic development of the population has been less favorable for the Czech Republic and a similar development is predicted in the future as well. The Czech Republic also lags behind Denmark in economic indicators of GDP per capita and average wages however its unemployment rate has been lower. The description of both pension systems shows that the Danish system is better prepared for the future problem of population ageing and is of better quality overall. It has a higher replacement rate and is built on more pillars. Among the main recommendations for the pension system of the Czech Republic, the author included the reintroduction of the second pillar and raising the retirement age.
