This thesis deals with grammar school students´ awareness of second language acquisition. The work examines six different SLA theories based on reputable authors, and investigates the students´ level of agreement with them. Tato diplomová práce zkoumá obecné povědomí žáků středních škol o teoriích, možnostech a postupech osvojování druhého jazyka. Práce obsahuje popis některých základních teorií SLA, na které navazuje praktický výzkum formou dotazníku vyplněného žáky gymnázia.
