Prosperousness and applicability of northern red oak (Quercus rubra L.) during forest regeneration in the forest district Hlubočec (LS Opava)

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá pěstební a hospodářskou perspektivou dubu červeného v zájmové oblasti, kterou je revír Hlubočec. Revír Hlubočec patří pod LS Opava (LČR, s. p.) a nachází se v PLO 29 – Nízký Jeseník. V práci byla hodnocena struktura a kvalita mladých porostů s dubem červeným, posuzován vliv odlišných výchovných zásahů na tloušťkový přírůst této dřeviny, analyzována nákladovost obnovy dubem červeným a bukem lesním a také produkční potenciál včetně zpeněžení obou těchto dřevin.Inventarizací byla popsána struktura a kvalita zkoumaných porostů. Jako hlavní problém při pěstování dubu červeného se jeví vysoké hektarové počty jedinců v mlazinách a tedy i odpovídající potřeba pěstebních zásahů. Nejlepší vliv na tloušťkový přírůst byl změřen na ploše po pozitivním způsobu výchovného zásahu. Nákladovost obnovy dubu červeného byla přibližně o 90 000 Kč nižší, než pro stejně staré porosty buku lesního. Kvantitativní produkce je do věku cca 75 let vyšší u dubu červeného, v pozdějším věku je produkce obou dřevin přibližně vyrovnaná. Zpeněžení, respektive prodejní cena kulatinového dříví, je průměrně o 523 Kč vyšší u dubu červeného, než je tomu u buku lesního. Terénní pochůzka v dospělých porostech ukázala srovnatelnou nebo mírně zhoršenou kvalitu a zdravotní stav u dubu.

Abstract:

The thesis deals with the silvicultural and economic perspective of northern red oak in the area of interest, which is the forest district Hlubočec. Forest district Hlubočec belongs to LS Opava (LČR, s. p.) and is located in the PLO 29 – Nízký Jeseník. The thesis evaluated the structure and quality of young stands with red oak, assessed the influence of different improvement cuttings on the thickness increment, analyzed the cost of red oak and European beech regeneration and also the production potential, including the profitability of both tree species.By inventory of stands were determined the structure and quality of investigated stands. The biggets problem of cultivation of red oak seems to be high hectare numbers in the thicket stands and thus the corresponding need of silvicultural operations. The best effect on the thickness increase was measured on the sample plot after a positive method of improvement cutting. The costs of regeneration of red oak was about 90 000 Kč lower than for beech stands of the same age. Quantitative production is up to age of about 75 years higher in red oak stands. The production of both species is approximately balanced in the older stands. Profitability, or more precisely, the selling price of round timber is on average 523 Kč higher for red oak than for beech. The field walk in adult stands showed comparable or slightly deteriorated quality and health of red oak.
