Restoration of the relief St. Bernard from the plague column in Kutna Hora

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se skládá z praktické části zahrnující komplexní restaurátorský zásah a rozšířeného restaurátorského průzkumu. Předmětem komplexního restaurátorského zásahu byl polychromovaný vápencový reliéf sv. Bernarda, který se nachází na západní straně morového sloupu v Kutné Hoře. V textu lze nalézt celou historii díla, souhrnný restaurátorský průzkum, stejně tak i metody a materiály použité při restaurování. Rozšířený restaurátorský průzkum se věnuje čištění kutnohorského vápence laserem. V rámci prováděných experimentů byl sledován vliv různé intenzity laseru, velikost bodu i pohybu ramenem laseru při čištění na výsledný vizuální vjem. Výsledky rozšířeného průzkumu a získané zkušenosti byly využity v praktické části bakalářské práce.

Abstract:

The bachelor thesis consists of a practical part involving a complex restoration intervention and extended restoration research. The object of the complex restoration intervention was a polychrome limestone relief of St. Bernard, located on the western side of the plague column in Kutná Hora. The text can be found throughout the history of the work, a comprehensive restoration survey, as well as the methods and materials used in the restoration. The extensive restoration research is dedicated to laser cleaning of limestone of Kutná Hora. Within the experiments conducted, the effect of different laser intensities, size of the point and the movement of the laser arm during the cleaning on the resulting visual perception were monitored. Results of the extended survey and the acquired experience were used in the practical part of the bachelor thesis.
