Possibilites of Using Snoezelen Among Pupils with Serious Combined Disabilities

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se věnuje problematice využívání Snoezelen konceptu při práci s žáky s těžkým kombinovaným postižením. První kapitola charakterizuje kombinované vady z pohledu etiologie a klasifikace a podrobněji vymezuje oblast mentální retardace. Popisuje její etiologii, klasifikaci a specifika osob s mentální retardací. V závěru kapitoly se pojednává o vzdělávání žáků s kombinovaným postižením v základní škole speciální. Druhá kapitola obsahuje teoretické vymezení Snoezelen konceptu. Jeho vývoj i současnou podobu a popisuje možnosti strukturovaného působení ve Snoezelen prostředí. Součástí kapitoly je stručná charakteristika vybraných terapií, jejichž prvky jsou zakomponovány do Snoezelen lekcí. Třetí kapitola popisuje a vyhodnocuje průběh působení strukturovaných hodin ve Snoezelen prostředí u šesti žáků s těžkým kombinovaným postižením. Výzkum ověřuje pozitivní vliv Snoezelen prostředí na smyslové vnímání žáků. Dále sleduje vliv strukturovaných hodin ve Snoezelen prostředí na koncentraci, motivaci a emoce žáků a následně se snaží zjistit, zda vlivem strukturovaných hodin došlo ke snížení spasticity a zda žáci lépe tolerují hmatové stimulace a hlasitější zvuky.

Abstract:

The diploma thesis deals with using Snoezelen concept when working with pupils with severe combined disability. The first chapter characterizes combined disability from the point of view of etiology and classification and defines the area of mental retardation. The chapter describes its etiology, classification and the specifities of the people with mental retardation. The conclusion of the chapter deals with educating pupils with combined disability at primary schools for pupils with special needs. The second chapter contains a theoretical definition of the Snoezelen concept, its development and contemporary form and describes the possibilities of structured operation in the Snozelen environment. The chapter includes a brief characteristics of chosen therapies whose elements are incorporated in the Snoezelen lessons. The third chapter describes and evaluates the process of use of structured lessons in the Snoezelen environment among six pupils with severe combined disability. The research verifies positive effect of Snozelen environment on the pupils? sensory perception. Further the research observes the influence of structured lessons in the Snoezelen environment on the pupils? concetration, motivation and emotions and consequently the research tries to determine if the influence of structured lessons has led to the reduction of spasticity and whether the pupils respond to tactile stimulation and louder sounds better.
