Qualification Education of General Nurses in Ireland

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce pojednává o vzdělávání všeobecných sester v Irsku. Teoretická část práce se zabývá kvalifikačním, specializačním a celoživotním vzděláváním všeobecných sester v Irsku. Dále popisuje systém kompetencí všeobecných sester. Praktická část je zaměřena na kvalitativní průzkum praktické a teoretické výuky studijního programu General Nursing na vybraných univerzitách v Irsku. Jako technika sběru dat pro průzkum byl použit polostrukturovaný rozhovor. Informanti jsou studenti 3. ročníku studijního programu General Nursing na vybraných univerzitách v Irsku. Na základě průzkumu bylo zjištěno, jakým způsobem probíhá teoretická a praktická výuka studijního programu General Nursing a také jaké jsou pozitivní a negativní aspekty praktické a teoretické výuky. Informanti hodnotili negativně nevyhovujícího preceptora, náročnost studia a studijní přípravy nebo absenci finančního ohodnocení. Naopak shledali pozitivní možnost vyzkoušet si praktické ošetřovatelské dovednosti během odborné praxe a získat konkrétní představu o náplni práce všeobecné sestry. Školení studentů během odborné praxe má v gesci preceptor, který by měl mimo jiné studentům poskytovat zpětnou vazbu. Zpětná vazba pomáhá studentům zlepšovat své schopnosti a dovednosti stejně jako psaní reflektivního deníku.

Abstract:

The bachelor´s thesis addresses general nurse education in Ireland. The theoretical part of the thesis deals with qualification, specialization and continuing education of general nurses in Ireland. Furthermore, it describes the scope of practice of General nurses in Ireland. The practical part is focused on a qualitative survey of the practical and theoretical teaching of the General Nursing study programme at selected universities in Ireland. A semi-structured interview was used for data collection, and the respondents were third-year General Nursing students from the selected universities in Ireland. Based on the survey, the theoretical and practical learning approaches of the General Nursing study programme, along with their positive and negative aspects, were explored. The respondents negatively evaluated an unsatisfactory preceptor, the difficulty of study and study preparation, or the absence of financial compensation. On the other hand, they found the opportunity to practice practical nursing skills during their clinical placements to be a positive, as it helped them get a better idea of what the job of a general nurse entails. The training of students during their clinical placements is the responsibility of the preceptor, who should, among other things, provide feedback to the students. This feedback helps students improve their competence and skills, as does reflective journaling.
