Relation between picture and lyric in the poem Délie of Maurice Scève (PhD Thesis Proposal)

Abstract:

Disertační práce se zabývá tématem vztahu obrazu a textu v básni Délie lyonského renesančního básníka, humanisty a člena „sodalitia lugdunense“, Maurice Scèva. Jedná se o interdisciplinární analýzu komunikace mezi prvky a jevy existujícími ve dvou rovinách – obrazové a textové. Klíčovým se stal pojem „emblém“, jehož řazení v básni ukázalo, že není uzavřenou uměleckou formou jednotlivých na sobě nezávislých významových jednotek, ale plynule navazujícím básnickým tokem. Výzkum provázanosti struktury básně vychází z poznatků strukturalismu a ze srovnání s díly, která mohla vznik Délie ovlivnit. Po úvodním nástinu jazyka, struktury a kompozice obrazových a textových prvků básně následuje popis a interpretace jejich vzájemných vztahů, založená na dvou hlavních částech – na analýzách ve směru od obrazu k textu a od textu k obrazu.

Abstract:

In the poem Délie, compoused by Renaissance poet and humanist Maurice Scève and frequently investigated, there are still some empty parts which are worthy of scientific interest. Spiritual and religious content of this work shows a formal character based on a compositional, systematic and hierarchical unit which is the emblem comprising emblematic image, accompanying motto and explanatory text. Mutual relations between them show that Délie isn’t a typical emblem book. The interconnection of its structural elements is the reason of Délie’s novelty and opens the way for its new interpretations.
