The impact of the circular economy on business strategies

Abstract:

Práce se zabývá vlivem cirkulární ekonomiky na obchodní strategie firem. Cílem je posoudit vliv cirkulární ekonomiky na obchodní strategie firem v České republice. V teoretické části jsou definovány základní pojmy: udržitelný rozvoj, lineární ekonomika, odpady a cirkulární ekonomika. Dále politické, regulační, ekonomické a technologické souvislosti cirkulární ekonomiky. Poté bariéry, výhody a nevýhody zavádění cirkulární ekonomiky do praxe a současně její vliv na konkurenceschopnost firem a jejich výnosy a náklady. V praktické části je prováděn smíšený výzkum za použití kvalitativních i kvantitativních metod. Důležitost cirkulární ekonomiky si firmy uvědomuji, ale pro změnu svých strategií potřebují podporu ve formě dotací, osvěty a sdílení dobré praxe. V závěru jsou vyhodnoceny výzkumné otázky a hypotézy a poskytnuto několik doporučení pro praxi.

Abstract:

The work deals with the impact of the circular economy on the business strategies of companies. The aim is to assess the influence of the circular economy on the business strategies of companies in the Czech Republic. The theoretical part defines basic concepts: sustainable development, linear economy, waste, and circular economy. It also discusses the political, regulatory, economic, and technological contexts of the circular economy. Subsequently, it examines the barriers, advantages, and disadvantages of implementing the circular economy in practice, as well as its impact on the competitiveness of companies and their revenues and costs. In the practical part, mixed research is conducted using both qualitative and quantitative methods. Companies are aware of the importance of the circular economy, but they need support in the form of subsidies, awarenessraising, and sharing of best practices to change their strategies. In conclusion, the research questions and hypotheses are evaluated, and several recommendations for practice are provided.
