The relationship between the level of creativity of students, their school success and their position in the classroom

Abstract:

Práce zkoumá vztah mezi úrovní tvořivosti studentů středních škol, jejich školní úspěšností a jejich postavením ve školní třídě. Úroveň tvořivosti studentů byla měřena Urbanovým figurálním testem tvořivého myšlení. Školní úspěšnost studentů zastupoval průměr klasifikace. Postavení studentů ve školní třídě bylo měřeno testem SO-RA-D. Výzkumný soubor tvořilo 198 osob, z toho 92 mužů (46,46 %) a 104 žen (52,53 %). Všichni byli studenti třetího ročníku čtyř středních škol v Brně. Dvě třídy byly z průmyslové školy, dvě třídy z gymnázia a po dvou třídách byly zastoupeny dvě školy umělecké. Výsledky výzkumu ukazují velmi slabé pozitivní vztahy mezi úrovní tvořivosti a školní úspěšností, mezi úrovní tvořivosti a vlivem ve třídě a mezi školní úspěšností a vlivem ve třídě. Tyto vztahy však významně ovlivňuje pohlaví jedinců a také studijní zaměření střední školy. Tvořivý jedinec je posuzován také na základě kombinace svých celkových kognitivních schopností, sociálních dovedností a osobnostních charakteristik.

Abstract:

The work is focused on the relationship between the level of creativity of secondary school students, their school success and their position in the classroom. The level of creativity of students was measured by the Urbans Figural Test of Creative Thinking. The academic success of students was represented by the average classification. The position of students in the classroom was measured by the SO-RA-D. The research sample consisted of 198 people, including 92 men (46,46 %) and 104 women (52,53 %). All of them were third-year students of four secondary schools in Brno. Two classes were from industrial schools, two classes from grammar school and two classes from two schools of art. The research results show a very weak positive relationship between the level of creativity and school success, the level of creativity and impact in the classroom, and between the school success and the impact in the classroom. However, these relationships are significantly influenced by the sex of the pupils and also by specialization of the secondary school. The creative individual is also examined on the basis of a combination of his/her cognitive skills, social skills and personal characteristics.
