Biomechanical parameters of gait in barefoot shoes

Abstract:

Barefoot obuv je v dnešní době stále více propagována jako zdravější alternativa běžné obuvi. Díky vlastnostem této obuvi lze, dle výrobců, přirovnat chůzi v barefoot obuvi k chůzi naboso. Cílem diplomové práce bylo zjistit, zda se liší biomechanické parametry chůze v barefoot obuvi v porovnání s chůzi naboso a ve standardizované běžecké obuvi. Měřenými parametry byly jednotlivé složky reakčních sil podložky během stojné fáze a výstupní momenty sil v kloubech pravé dolní končetiny. Výzkumu se zúčastnilo celkem 15 probandů, z toho mužů 5 (n = 5? průměrný věk 24,2?2,6? průměrná výška 177,2?9 cm? průměrná hmotnost 76,2?13,2 kg) a žen 10 (n = 10? průměrný věk 34,3?8,2? průměrná výška 170 ?8,7 cm? průměrná hmotnost 64,9?9,6 kg). Podmínkou pro účast ve výzkumu byla minimálně půlroční zkušenost s chůzí v barefoot obuvi. Pro získání parametrů chůze u výše uvedených typů obutí byl použit optoelektronický systém Vicon MX v kombinaci s plošinami Kistler (Winterthur, Švýcarsko). U jednotlivých složek reakčních sil podložky nebyly mezi jednotlivými typy obutí zjištěny statisticky signifikantní rozdíly (p>0,05). U výstupních momentů sil v kloubech dolní končetiny byly zjištěny statisticky signifikantní rozdíly ve výstupním flekčním momentu v kolenním kloubu při chůzi naboso a v barefoot obuvi. Vedle toho byl zjištěn u stejného momentu statisticky významný rozdíl při chůzi v běžecké obuvi a chůzi naboso. Další signifikantní rozdíl byl i ve výstupním dorzálně flekčním momentu v hlezenním kloubu při chůzi v běžecké obuvi a chůzi naboso.

Abstract:

Barefoot shoes are nowadays being more and more promoted as a healthier alternative to the standard footwear. According to barefoot shoemakers, wearing their shoes is due to their special qualities comparable to the experience of barefoot walking. The aim of this diploma thesis was to explore whether the biomechanical parameters of walking in barefoot shoes differ from barefoot walking or from wearing standard running shoes. The measured parameters represented the various components of the ground reaction forces during the stance phase, and the output moments of force in the joints of the right lower limb. 15 people took part in the study: 5 men (n = 5, average age 24,2?2,6? average height 177,2?9 cm; average body mass 76,2?13,2 kg) and 10 women (n = 10; average age 34,3?8,2? average height 170?8,7 cm; average body mass 64,9?9,6 kg). The condition for the participation in the study was at least six-month-long experience of walking in barefoot shoes. For the purposes of obtaining the gait parameters from above mentioned types of footwear, the combination of the optoelectronic system Vicon MX and Kistler force plates (Winterthur, Switzerland) was used. The measurement of the individual components of ground reaction forces displayed no statistically significant differences (p>0,05) between the three types of footwear examined in this study. Measuring the output moments of force in the joints of the lower limb detected statistically significant differences in the output flexion moment in the knee joint when walking barefoot and walking in barefoot shoes. Moreover, at the same moment of force there was a statistically important difference when walking in running shoes and barefoot walking. Another significant difference emerged in the output dorsiflexion moment in the hock joint between walking in running shoes and barefoot walking.
