Conflict Between Buddhism and the Original Forms of Chinese Thinking in Selected Literary Works of Mouzi’s, Yancong’s and Huiyuan’s Buddhist Apologetics in Medieval China

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis focuses on the analysis and deduction of the consequences of the conflict between Buddhism and the original forms of Chinese thinking in selected three literary works of Buddhist apologetics Mouzi lihuo lun, Shamen bu jing wangzhe lun and Futian lun written during the Chinese Middle Ages. The defensive Buddhist argumentation reacting to the objections of the Confucians present in the texts is then compared in the work in order to determine the shift in the relationship between Buddhism and Confucianism in the context of chronological order.

Abstract:

Táto bakalárska práca sa zameriava na analýzu a vyvodenie dôsledkov konfliktu medzi buddhizmom a pôvodnými formami čínskeho myslenia vo vybraných troch textoch buddhistickej apologetiky Mouzi lihuo lun, Shamen bu jing wangzhe lun a Futian lun, spísaných v dobe čínskeho stredoveku. Obrannú buddhistickú argumentáciu reagujúcu na námietky konfuciánov prítomnú v dielach, následne práca zrovnáva za účelom určenia posunu vo vzťahu buddhizmu a konfucianizmu v kontexte časovej postupnosti.
