U některých skupin organismů došlo během evoluce k těsnému koevolučnímu provázání. Příkladem takového možného provázání jsou parazito-hostitelské systémy. Jsou-li známy pravděpodobné fylogenetické rekonstrukce parazitů a hostitelů, lze srovnáním dvou fylogenetických stromů stanovit pravděpodobný průběh jejich koevoluce. During the evolution some groups of organisms have become coevolutionary associated with other groups, as is the case of host-parasite systems. To explore coevolutionary history of hosts and their associated parasites phylogenetic reconstruction of parasites and phylogenetic reconstruction of hosts have been compared.
