Generativity and emotional intelligence during adulthood

Abstract:

Hlavním cílem této bakalářské práce je prozkoumat vzájemný vztah mezi generativitou a emoční inteligencí, a také jejich změny během dospělosti (mladá, střední a pozdní dospělost). Dále porovnat rozdíly ve výsledcích mezi skupinou mužů a žen a mezi účastníky výzkumu žijícími ve městě a na vesnici. Teoretická část je věnována popisu obou pojmů a představení možností jejich měření. V poslední kapitole popisujeme možný vztah mezi emoční inteligencí a generativitou na základě dnešních studií. Empirická část zahrnuje kvantitativní výzkum, který vychází z teoretické části. Ve výzkumném vzorku je 227 účastníků ve věku mezi 20 a 65 lety. Použili jsme tři metody měření: Loyola Generativity Scale, Gen-life a Assessing Emotions Scale (AES-41). Výsledky potvrdily vztah mezi emoční inteligencí a generativitou. Zjistili jsme také vyšší stupeň generativního zájmu v pozdní dospělosti. Rozdíly mezi věkovými skupinami se prokázaly u enviromentální a technické generativity. Změny emoční inteligence během dospělosti nebyly potvrzeny. Neprokázaly se ani rozdíly mezi skupinami rozdělenými podle pohlaví a místa bydlení.

Abstract:

The main aim of this bachelor thesis was to investigate the mutual relationship between generativity and emotional intelligence and their changes during adulthood (young, middle and late adulthood). In addition, we compared the difference in results between a group of men and women and between participants living in a town and a village. The theoretical part is devoted to the description of both concepts as well as to the introduction of possibilities of their measuring. We described a possible relationship between emotional intelligence and generativity in the last chapter, based on today's studies. The empirical part is dedicated to quantitative research, based on the theoretical part. In the research sample there are 227 participants with age between 20 and 65. We used three measuring methods: Loyola Generativity Scale, Gen-life and Assessing Emotions Scale (AES-41). The results confirmed a relationship between emotional intelligence and generativity. We also found higher grade of generative concern in late adulthood and differences between age groups in environmental and technical generativity. Changes of emotional intelligence during adulthood were not approved. Differences between groups divided by genders and place of living were also unconfirmed.
