Sexuality of Mentally Disabled Individuals

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce nese název Sexualita osob s mentálním postižením a je rozdělena na část teoretickou a praktickou. Teoretická část je především zaměřena na sexualitu jako základní lidskou potřebu a na samotnou sexualitu mentálně postižených osob a jejich partnerství. Dále se zaobírá vymezením pojmu mentální postižení a klasifikací mentálně postižených osob. Na závěr obsahuje informace o sexuální výchově a formách antikoncepce mentálně postižených osob. Prvním cílem praktické části bakalářské práce bylo zmapovat projevy sexuality mentálně postižených osob. Dalším cílem bylo zjistit pohled na sexualitu mentálně postižených osob očima sociálních pracovníků i mentálně postižených osob a zjistit, jak probíhá sexuální výchova mentálně postižených osob. Posledním cílem bylo zjistit, zdali mají osoby s mentálním postižením dostatek soukromí k sexuálním aktivitám. Výsledky bakalářské práce mohou sloužit jako podklad pro diskuzi s poskytovateli sociálních služeb.

Abstract:

The title of the thesis is Sexuality of the People with Intellectual Disability and the work is divided in two parts theoretical and practical. The theoretical part focuses mainly on sexuality as a basic human need and the sexuality of the people with intellectual disability and their romantic relationships. It also contains a definition of the term "intellectual dis-ability" and a classification of people with such disabilities. At the end of the theoretical part there is information about sex education and the types of contraception for people with intellectual disabilities. The first aim of the practical part was to map the manifestations of sexuality of people witch intellectual disabilities. Another goal was to find out how the social workers and the people with intellectual disabilities themselves see their sexuality and to find out how the sex education of these people is realized. The last aim was to find out if people with intellectual disabilities have enough privacy for sexual activities. The results of the thesis may be used as a basis for discussion with the providers of social services.
