Comparision of the Urban History Internet Encyclopedias

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zabývá srovnáním internetových encyklopedií dějin měst. Autorka ve své práci porovnává pět vybraných českých encyklopedií a krátce představuje i tři zahraniční encyklopedie. Problematika věrohodnosti internetových encyklopedií je v současné době hodně diskutována. Internetové encyklopedie dějin měst mohou být cenným zdrojem informací pro odborníky, ale řada z nich je nepoužívá pro jejich nedůvěryhodnost. V první části práce jsou stanovena kritéria pro hodnocení věrohodnosti, následně jsou encyklopedie podle těchto kritérií hodnoceny a je posuzováno, zda jsou to stejně kvalitní informační zdroje jako obdobné tištěné publikace. Na základě zjištěných skutečností pak autorka stanovuje základní kritéria pro určení hodnověrnosti internetových encyklopedií.

Abstract:

The bachelor thesis deals with a comparison of internet encyclopaedias of urban history. The author compares five selected Czech encyclopaedias and briefly introduces three foreign encyclopaedias as well. The issue of the credibility of internet encyclopaedias is being discussed a lot these days. Internet encyclopaedias of urban history can be a valuable source of information for professionals, but many of them do not use these sources because of their unreliability. In the first part, the criteria for evaluation of the credibility is established. According to the criteria, author of the thesis finds out if those sources of information are of the same quality as printed publications. Based on the found facts, the author specifies basic criteria for defining the credibility of internet encyclopaedias.
