The Ideology of Propaganda in Art of Czechoslovak Socialist Realism as an Instrument of Manipulation

Abstract:

Práce si dává za úkol náhled do československé kulturní politiky v letech 1948 – 1958, což je období označováno jako socialistický realismus. Za použití dobové i současné literatury je cílem vymezit ideologii v kontextu propagandy uměním. V kapitolách textu budou aplikovány rozbory prvků ideologie na konkrétních dílech umělců Ondřeje Sekory a Miloše Axmana, které můžeme označit za umělce socialistického realismu. V rámci širších souvislostí je kladen důraz na myšlenkový záměr propagandy a kulturní politiku. Práce má upozornit na psychologický aspekt ve společnosti řízené mocenskými vlivy v poválečném období. Hledá motivy manipulace v cílené umělecké tvorbě.

Abstract:

The aim of this thesis is to give an insight into the Czechoslovak cultural politics within the years 1948–1958, which is the period called socialist realism. With the help of contemporary sources and the literature on the subject, the actual aim is to define ideology in the context of propaganda by means of works of art. Individual chapters deal with the analyses of ideology components on the basis of concrete works of art by Ondřej Sekora and Miloš Axman, who are considered as representatives of socialist realism.
