Abstract:

This bachelor thesis focuses on selected holidays (May Day, Guy Fawkes, Orangemen's Day, Remembrance Day), their history and ways of celebrating them. The holidays are arranged chronologically according to a timeline going from the "oldest" to the "youngest". Bachelor's thesis describes how these holidays originated, how they were celebrated in the past and how they are celebrated now. The contribution of this bachelor thesis is informative and starts with the holiday called May Day, which was celebrated as a service to the gods, and ends with last shots fired from rifles during World War One.

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zaměřuje na vybrané svátky (Svátek práce nebo 1. Máj, Guy Fawkes, Den oranžistů, Den válečných veteránů), jejich historii a způsoby oslavování. Svátky jsou seřazeny chronologicky podle časové osy jdoucí od "nejstaršího" po ten "nejmladší". Bakalářské práce popisuje, jak tyto svátky vznikly, jak se slavily kdysi a jak se slaví teď. Přínos této bakalářské práce je informující o historii těchto svátků, počínajíc 1. Májem, který se slavil jako úcta k bohů, až po poslední výstřel z pušek za první světové války.
