Supporting the Adaptation of a Novice Teacher from the Point of View of a Primary School Principal

Abstract:

Diplomová práce má teoreticko-empirický charakter. Cílem práce je zjistit, jak ředitelé základních škol podporují adaptaci začínajících učitelů na základní škole. Teoretická část charakterizuje začínajícího učitele, vymezuje obtíže začínajících učitelů a sumarizuje možnosti podpory pro začínající učitele. Empirická část představuje kvalitativní design a výsledky výzkumu, které byly zjištěny metodou fokusové skupiny a interview s řediteli škol. Výzkumná zjištění představují možnosti podpory pro začínající učitele, mezi které patří především uvádějící učitel a přátelské prostředí ve škole. V závěru práce je diskuze, limity výzkumu a doporučení pro praxi.

Abstract:

The diploma thesis has a theoretical-empirical character. The aim of the thesis is to find out how principals of primary schools support the adaptation of beginning teachers at primary school. The theoretical part characterizes the beginning teacher, defines the difficulties of beginning teachers and summarizes the possibilities of support for beginning teachers. The empirical section presents the qualitative design and results of the research, which were determined by the focus group method and interviews with school principals. The findings reveal that the most effective forms of support for beginning teachers are the provision of an introductory teacher and a supportive school environment. The thesis concludes with a discussion of the research limitations and recommendations for practice.
