Fyziologické a patologické aspekty apoptózy spermií

Physiological and pathological aspects of sperm apoptosis
Abstract:
Stejně jako většina buněk i spermie mají omezenou životnost a zanikají procesem apoptózy. Ta slouží nejen k odstranění spermií s poškozenou genetickou informací, ale i starých nebo již nepotřebných spermií. Charakteristickými znaky apoptických spermií jsou fragmentace DNA, ztráta motility, aktivace kaspáz, externalizace fosfatidylserinu nebo zvýšená mitochondriální produkce ROS.
Abstract:
Just as most of other cells, viability of sperm cells is limited. They are removed by apoptotic death. Apoptosis serves not only to remove spermatozoa with damaged DNA but also those which are old or just useless. Typical features of apoptotic spermatozoa are DNA fragmentation, motility loss, caspase activation, phosphatidylserine externalization or enhanced mitochondrial ROS generation.
