The Influence of Economic Factors on the Development of the Winemaking Industry in Bohemia

Abstract:

This bachelor's thesis analyzes the economic factors influencing the development of the wine industry in Bohemia. The study aims to identify key challenges and opportunities affecting the industry, including production costs, market demand, labor availability, and external economic shocks. The theoretical component is based on a review of scientific literature, economic analyses, and regional wine industry reports. The practical component consists of a qualitative study conducted through semi-structured interviews with representatives of wineries, supplemented by a small survey exploring consumption patterns among young consumers. The results indicate that Bohemian wineries are unable to compete in volume and price with large foreign producers and are therefore focusing on quality, local identity, and direct sales. The study also identifies significant challenges, including climate risks, rising production costs, and declining alcohol consumption among younger generations. Despite these challenges, the industry has demonstrated a high level of adaptability through innovation, diversification, and the development of wine tourism. The results obtained provide valuable information on the current state and future prospects of the Bohemian wine sector.
