Religiosity in Czech society after year 1989

Abstract:

Cílem práce je analýza religiozity v České republice a její kvantitativní vymezení v demografickém rámci. Zkoumá demografické charakteristiky jako věk, pohlaví, rodinné chování a také vzdělání. Práce ukazuje, že Češi ztrácejí zájem o tradiční institucionalizované náboženství, kde převažují starší ženy. Významný prostor zaujímá alternativní religiozita, o kterou se zajímá téměř polovina populace. U mladších generací roste zájem o alternativní formy náboženství a o církve charismatického a evangelikálního typu. Osoby hlásící se k náboženskému vyznání dosahují častěji vyššího vzdělání, častěji také zakládají početnější rodiny, méně se rozvádějí a častěji žijí v manželství. Podle odhadu budoucího vývoje by měl počet osob hlásících se k tradičním církvím mezi lety 2011 a 2031 klesnout o 63 %.

Abstract:

The objective of this thesis is the analysis of religiosity in the Czech Republic and its quantitative definition in the demographic context. It examines the demographic characteristics such as age, gender, family behavior and education. This thesis shows that Czechs are losing interest in traditional institutionalized religion, which is represented by older women. On the other hand alternative religiosity interest nearly half the population. Younger generations are interested in alternative forms of religion and in the charismatic and evangelical type of church. Believers often reach higher education, more often establish large families, less are getting divorce and likely to live in a marriage. According to the estimates of future developments the number of believers between 2011 and 2031 fall by 63%.
