Application of the User Experience Principle (UX) to User Interface Design of Information Systems

Abstract:

Tato práce se zabývá problematikou návrhu User Experience (UX) informačních systémů (IS) v kontextu zaměření se na znalost koncového uživatele. Cílem práce je návrh procesu pro aplikování principů uživatelské zkušenosti (UX) do návrhu uživatelsky centristického rozhraní IS. V rámci dílčích cílů práce objasňuje pojem User Experience a pojem informační systém, ustavuje pojem lidsko-centrický systém a vysvětluje význam člověka v návrhu uživatelské zkušenosti a představuje procesní rámec návrhu UX tak, aby výsledný systém poskytoval svým uživatelům hodnotu a byl navržen s ohledem na preference a požadavky lidí, kteří ho budou pravidelně užívat, a ověřuje tento procesní rámec pomocí případové studie.Práce v první části poskytuje teoretický základ pro pochopení problematiky uživatelské zkušenosti informačních systémů a odpovědnosti rolí v týmu, který se podílí na tvorbě UX. Ve druhé části pak na základě prezentovaných informací konstruuje konsolidovaný procesní rámec, který může v praxi zainteresovaným osobám poskytovat oporu a vedení ve snaze vytvářet informační systémy, které budou skýtat konzistentní a příjemný uživatelský zážitek. Ve třetí části pak ověřuje vytvořený procesní rámec na praktické případové studii za účelem odhalení jeho případných nedostatků.

Abstract:

This thesis deals with User Experience (UX) design of Information Systems (IS) in context of focusing on knowing the end user. The aim of the thesis is to design a process that allows application of the User Experience (UX) principles into the design of user-centric interfaces of IS. The thesis explains the concept of user experience and the notion of information system. It also introduces the notion of human-centric system and explains the importance of humans in the process of designing user experience and introduces a procedural framework of UX design in order to ensure that the resulting system provides its users with value and is designed with regard to its regular users’ preferences and requirements, and it verifies the process with a case study.The first part of this thesis provides a theoretical foundation that allows understanding the issue of user experience, information systems and responsibilities within the team participating in the creation of UX. In the second part, based on the presented information, a consolidated procedural framework that can provide involved practitioners with support and guidance in their effort to create information systems that provide consistent and pleasant user experience is constructed. The third part, furthermore, verifies the created procedural framework with a practical case study in order to reveal its potential shortcomings.
