Welcome to Pankisi. A Story of Rural Tourism in a Post-Conflict Zone

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá projektem rurálního turismu v údolí Pankisi v Gruzii. Údolí Pankisi je obýváno Kisty, etnickými Vajnachy, kteří pomocí rurálního turismu ukazují svou kulturu, zvyky a tradice. Cílem práce je představit soupeřící narativy rurálního turismu, kterými obyvatelé Pankisi dávají projektu smysl a cíl, také ověřit dva hlavní důvody turismu a pokusit se nalézt i další dosud neuvedené důvody, a to na základě narativních rozhovorů, které jsem pořídila na místě v rámci školní exkurze do Gruzie konané v září roku 2018 a některé na dálku. Prvním důvodem je zlepšení image údolí Pankisi, druhým důvodem je zlepšení ekonomické situace. V závěru práce je proveden rozbor a následná interpretace rozhovorů.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis deals with a project of rural tourism in Pankisi valley in Georgia. The Pankisi valley is inhabited by Kists, ethnic Vainakhs, who use this project to show their culture, habits, and traditions. The goal of this thesis is to introduce competing narratives of rural tourism which Pankisi inhabitants put purpose and target, verify main two reasons of tourism and try to find other unlisted reasons with narratives interviews I captured personally within school excursion to Georgia on September 2018 and improve the image of the Pankisi valley and the second is to improve the economic situation. The conclusion of the thesis contains analysis and related interview interpretations.
