Factors causing intelligent, above average individuals to have reduced motivation for learning and negative attitudes toward further education

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce popisuje faktory vedoucí u intelektově nadprůměrného jedince ke ztrátě motivace k učení a k negativním postojům k dalšímu vzdělávání. Teoretická část se věnuje osobnosti a nadání dítěte s ohledem na jeho temperament, kritéria a podmínky nadání, zařazuje klasifikaci, modely nadání a uvádí pohledy na nadání. Nedílnou součástí je motivace versus demotivace a ztráta zájmu o učení. Je zde uvedena definice školní úspěšnosti, rozpracovány faktory podílející se na ztrátě zájmu k učení. Rovněž zmiňuje problematiku nevhodného hodnocení žáků se specifickými poruchami učení a chování. To vše je posuzováno v prostředí školní třídy v interakci se školním prostředí a rodinou. Je zde rovněž kapitola problémů s chováním a východisek z eventuální možné krize. Část praktická zahrnuje kvalitativní výzkum s cílem zkoumání nadaného žáka v běžné základní škole. V rámci polostrukturovaného rozhovoru se uskutečnilo šetření se zákonným zástupcem, třídní učitelkou a nadaným chlapcem. Přínosem bakalářské práce je zjištění faktorů, které ovlivňují ztrátu motivace u konkrétního nadaného žáka, popis možností externí motivace a způsoby, jak předcházet negativním postojům ke vzdělávání.

Abstract:

The bachelor thesis describes the factors leading to loss of learning motivation, and to negative attitudes towards further education in intellectually above-average individuals. The theoretical part deals with the personality and talent of the child with regard to his temperament, criteria and conditions of talent, includes the classification and models of talent, and presents approaches to talent. Motivation versus demotivation and loss of interest in learning are integral parts of the thesis. A definition of school achievement is given, and factors contributing to loss of interest in learning are elaborated. It also mentions the issue of inappropriate assessment of pupils with specific learning and behavioral disorders. All this is considered in the class environment in interaction with the school environment and the family. There is also a chapter on behavioral problems and ways out of a possible crisis. The practical part involves qualitative research with the aim of examining the gifted pupil in a regular primary school. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with a legal guardian, a class teacher and a gifted boy. The contribution of the Bachelor's thesis is an identification of factors that influence the loss of motivation in a particular gifted pupil, description of the possibilities of external motivation and ways to prevent negative attitudes towards education.
