The collection and recycling issues of discarded mobile phones in relation to the circular economy.

Abstract:

Elektroodpad v posledních letech zaznamenává velmi výrazný nárůst kvůli zvyšujícímu objemu výroby a spotřeby převážně drobných elektrozařízení, jako jsou mobilní telefony. Cílem práce je zhodnotit faktickou životnost mobilních telefonů a posoudit současnou úroveň jejich recyklace a využití v souladu s principy cirkulární ekonomiky. K dosažení cíle práce byla využita kombinace různých metod zahrnujících rešerši odborné literatury, analýzu a syntézu, strukturované rozhovory a kvantitativní výzkum. Tyto metody vedly k naplnění cíle práce. Výsledky z výzkumu ukázaly, že faktická životnost mobilních telefonů se prodlužuje. Mobilní telefony jsou ve vysoké míře dlouhodobě skladovány v domácnostech a firmách, což zpomaluje a negativně ovlivňuje cirkulární ekonomiku. Pro oblast zkoumané problematiky jsou navržena řešení, která přinášejí potenciál pro efektivnější cirkulaci mobilních telefonů.

Abstract:

E-waste has seen a very significant increase in recent years due to the increasing production and consumption of mainly small electrical equipment such as mobile phones. The aim of this work is to evaluate the actual lifetime of mobile phones and to assess the current level of their recycling and recovery in accordance with the principles of circular economy. A combination of different methods was used to achieve the aim of the thesis, including literature search, analysis and synthesis, structured interviews and quantitative research. These methods have led to the fulfilment of the aim of the thesis. The results from the research showed that the effective lifetime of mobile phones is increasing. Mobile phones are highly stored in households and businesses for long periods of time, which slows down and affects the circular economy. Solutions are proposed for the problem area under study that offer the potential for more efficient circulation of mobile phones.
