War, Humanity, and Nature in The Thin Red Line by Terrence Malick
Abstract:
Tato diplomová práce se zabývá kritickým přijetím a porozuměním třem hlavním motivům ve filmu Tenká červená linie Terrence Malicka: válka, lidskost a příroda -- a způsobem, jakým s nimi režisér pracuje. Hlavním cílem je interpretovat film s ohledem na tyto tři motivy a poskytnout jasně formulovanou kritiku Malickova záměru a jeho uměleckého zpracování.
Abstract:
This thesis explores the critical reception and understanding of the three main motifs of The Thin Red Line by Terrence Malick: war, humanity, and nature -- and the way the director works with them. The chief aim is to interpret the film with regard to these three themes, and to offer a clearly articulated critique of Malick’s intent and its artistic realization.
