Landslides in the Slovak part of the Outer Western Carpathians

Abstract:

The work is focused on the inventory of landslides in the Outer Western Carpathians in the Slovak part, which are formed by the flysch belt. The flysch is one of the factors for the creation of suitable conditions for the occurrence of landslides of different size and density of their representation within the territory, and thus it is often referred to as a risk area. A high-resolution LIDAR digital elevation model was used to create a landslide database. Vectors of the landslides were carried out using the visible boundaries of the individual slope deformations from which the analysis was created. From which it is possible to compare the occurrence of landslides within the elevation and slope gradients, where we get results about their frequency and spatial distribution. On the other hand, the study area is also depicted in terms of lithology, which gives us the opportunity to see if the geology present has an influence on the occurrence of landslides. The output is a landslide inventory map that visually interprets the landslide hazard. The knowledge gained from the work contributes to complement and extend the current databases that analyze the region from a geomorphological point of view, with the emphasis on a deeper analysis and understanding of the occurrence of landslides and their triggers.

Abstract:

Práca je zameraná na inventarizáciu zosuvov vo Vonkajších Západných Karpatoch v slovenskej časti, ktoré sú tvorené flyšovým pásom. Flyš je jedným z faktorov pre vznik vhodných podmienok na výskyt zosuvov o rôznej veľkosti a hustote ich zastúpenia v rámci územia, a tak je často označované za rizikovú oblasť. Pre vytvorenie databázy zosuvov bol použitý digitálny model reliéfu s vysokým rozlíšením LiDAR. Vektorizácia zosuvov bola uskutočnená za pomoci viditeľných hraníc jednotlivých svahových deformácii, z ktorých bola vytvorená analýza. Z ktorej výsledkom je možné porovnanie výskytu zosuvov v rámci nadmorskej výšky a sklonov svahov, kde dostaneme výsledky o ich početnosti a priestorovým rozložením. Na druhú stranu je študované územie zobrazené i z hľadiska litológie, čo nám dáva možnosť zistiť, či má prítomná geológia vplyv na výskyt zosuvov. Výstupom je inventarizačná mapa zosuvov, ktorá vizuálne interpretuje nebezpečenstvo zosuvov. Poznatky z práce prespievajú k doplneniu a rozšíreniu súčasných databáz analyzujúcich daný región z geomorfologického hľadiska, s tým že je kladený dôraz na hlbšie rozobratie a porozumenie výskytu zosuvov a ich spúšťačov.
