The Development of Criminalistics from its Emergence up to the Present

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá historií kriminalistiky s cílem popsat rané období kriminalistiky se zaměřením na první metody individuální identifikace osob včetně osobností, které se o tyto metody zasloužily. Práce je čistě teoretická, avšak její praktickou stránku zastupuje hlubší analýza a komparace historických i současných pramenů čítající monografie a odborné články tuzemské i zahraniční, ale také dobových tiskovin. Práce je rozdělena do 5 kapitol členěných na další podkapitoly. První přesně vymezuje relevantní základní pojmy, s kterými práce pracuje. Druhá a třetí kapitola představují období „předvědecké“ kriminalistiky a to od starověku až po 19. století. Čtvrtá kapitola reprezentuje zrod vědecké kriminalistiky v podobě antropometrie a poslední, pátá, se zaměřuje na daktyloskopii coby jejího sukcesora, přičemž polemizuje o tom, zda je její dominantní pozice stále aktuální či je zde tendence na změnu.

Abstract:

This bachelor's thesis focuses on the history of criminalistics with the aim of describing its early period with a focus on the oldest methods of individual identification of persons. The work also contains information about personages who were involved in creating the described concepts. The paper is purely theoretical, but its practical aspect lies in a deeper analysis and comparison of historical and contemporary sources, including monographs and professional articles, both domestic and foreign, as well as periodical publications. The work is divided into 5 main chapters each broken into several subsections. The first chapter precisely defines the most relevant concepts. The second and third chapters represent the period of "pre-scientific" criminalistics from ancient times to the 19th century. The fourth chapter represents the birth of scientific criminalistics in the form of anthropometry. The final chapter focuses on dactyloscopy as its successor, debating whether its dominant position is still relevant or whether it´s time for a change.
