Students’ financial well-being in relation to their financial literacy and financial planning

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zaměřuje na problematiku finanční pohody studentů Fakulty podnikohospodářské Vysoké škole ekonomické v Praze a její souvislost s objektivní a subjektivní finanční gramotností a plánováním osobních financí. Hlavním cílem práce je provést vlastní kvantitativní výzkum a na základě jeho výsledků posoudit: jakou úroveň finanční pohody, finanční gramotnosti a finančního plánování mají studenti Fakulty podnikohospodářské Vysoké škole ekonomické v Praze; jak se hodnoty těchto proměnných liší v závislosti na sociodemografických charakteristikách studentů; a také jestli je finanční pohoda studentů ovlivněna jejich finanční gramotností a sklonem k plánování osobních financí. V teoretické části je představena rešerše literatury na téma finanční pohody, finanční gramotnosti a finančního plánování, a jsou formulovány hypotézy pro následné testování. V praktické části jsou popsány výzkumné metody provedeného vlastního kvantitativního výzkumu, jsou představeny zjištěné výsledky a diskuze. Na závěr je práce shrnuta a jsou navrženy náměty pro budoucí výzkumy dané problematiky.

Abstract:

The master’s thesis is focused on financial well-being of students of the Faculty of Business Administration at the Prague University of Economics and Business in relation to their objective and subjective financial literacy and planning of personal finances. The main objective of this master’s thesis is to conduct the own quantitative research and determine basing on its results: the level of financial well-being, financial literacy and financial planning of students of the Faculty of Business Administration at the Prague University of Economics and Business; whether levels of these variables differ depending on students’ sociodemographic characteristics; whether financial well-being of students depends on financial literacy and financial planning. The literature review on the topic of financial well-being, financial literacy and financial planning is presented in the theoretical part of this master’s thesis. The practical part is consisted of a description of used research methods, results of conducted study and discussion. The last part presents the summary of this thesis and suggestions for future research.
