The position and role of monetary policy in cushioning the impact of the economic crisis

Abstract:

The main theme of this thesis is to show the monetary policy as an instrument of state policy towards cushioning the negative impact of the crisis. Since this is a very broad topic, the theoretical part, we focus primarily on monetary (monetary) policy and its instruments, the crisis of its causes and consequences, and analysis of the elaborate procedures of selected CB in cushioning the impact of the crisis. The first chapter is focused on explaining concepts like monetary policy, in-depth analysis of the objectives, criteria and tools of monetary policy. It will focus on exploring the causes of the crisis, its consequences and typology. The second chapter of this thesis will highlight the steps the Fed and ECB monetary policy before and during the economic crisis. Given the turbulent times have not been able to implement a standard monetary policy and the use of standard monetary policy process, the focus should be on their way unconventional monetary instruments and maintain procedures. The object of the processing of the third chapter of this thesis is the impact of the economic crisis on the real economy of the EU and USA. It focuses on the impact of monetary policy towards a stabilization of the real economy only on selected indicators and the GDP, unemployment, inflation and trade balance.

Abstract:

Hlavný motív tejto diplomovej práce je poukázať na menovú politiku ako nástroj hospodárskej politiky štátu k tlmeniu negatívnych dopadov krízy. Keďže je to veľmi široká téma, v teoretickej časti sa zameriame predovšetkým na monetárnu (menovú) politiku a jej nástroje, na krízu jej príčiny a dôsledky a v analytickej časti podrobne rozoberieme postupy vybraných CB pri tlmení dopadov krízy. V prvej kapitole sa zameriame na vysvetlenie pojmov ako menová politika, hĺbková analýza cieľov, nástrojov a kritérií menovej politiky. Ďalej sa zameriame na skúmanie príčin vzniku krízy, jej typológiu a dôsledky. Cieľom druhej kapitoly diplomovej práce bude poukázať na kroky ECB a FED v oblasti menovej politiky pred a počas hospodárskej krízy. Keďže v turbulentných časoch neboli schopné realizovať štandardnú menovú politiku a využívať štandardné menovo-politické postupy, bude potrebné sa zamerať na ich cestu nekonvenčných menových nástrojov a nadštandardných postupov. Objektom spracovania tretej kapitoly diplomovej práce sú dopady hospodárskej krízy na reálnu ekonomiku EÚ a USA. Je zameraná na dopad výkonu menovej politiky smerovanej k stabilizácií reálnej ekonomiky iba na vybraných ukazovateľoch a to na HDP, nezamestnanosť, infláciu a obchodnú bilanciu.
