Street performance in Europe, it's profitability and regulation

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se bude věnovat výnosnosti a regulacím pouličního umění (dále také “busking”) v Evropě. Pouliční umělci jsou v mnoha zemích nedílnou součástí kultury a jsou velmi významní pro turismus. Vhodné množství dobrých buskerů zpříjemní zážitek turistům, kteří se poté rádi vrací a destinaci doporučují známým. Zároveň veřejná produkce podporuje místní podniky, které benefitují z pozitivní externality, kterou hudba tvoří.

Abstract:

This bachelor's thesis will be devoted to the profitability and regulations of street performance (hereinafter also "busking") in Europe. Street performers are an integral part of culture in many countries and are very important for tourism. An appropriate amount of good buskers will make the experience pleasant for tourists, who are happy to return to a given destination and recommend it to their friends. Furthermore, street performers supports local businesses that benefit from the positive externality that music creates. Regulations that affect busking directly will be examined, as well as those that deal with the taxation of street performers. The thesis also includes an analysis of the artist's income, what factors it depends on and to what extent. How this income is taxed will be shown in a case study that builds on the previous analysis.
