Life with Multiple Sclerosis

Abstract:

Multiple sclerosis is chronical disease of central neural system that affects not only patient's life quality and living with this serious diagnosis, but also has influence upon his friends and family. It has an impact on psychic, work and everyday aspects of life. This bachelor thesis focuses on living and subjective view of a person diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. Followingly the thesis describes the specifics of nursing care for patients with this diagnosis. The thesis is divided into theoretical and practical part. Theoretical part covers the disease form clinical point of view. Containing types and process of illness, history, epidemiology, causes, symptoms, diagnosis and treatment. Theoretical part further deals with the specifics of nursing care for patients diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. Practical part processed in the form of casuistry describes subjective view of patient diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. Report captures important stages of her life, first symptoms, diagnosis, treatment, illness progress and moments from her everyday life. The data is obtained by non-standardized interview with patient and from her health documentation.

Abstract:

Skleróza multiplex je chronické ochorenie centrálneho nervového systému, ktoré ovplyvňuje kvalitu života a prežívanie nie len pacientov s touto závažnou diagnózou, ale taktiež má vplyv aj na ich rodinu a priateľov. Má dopad na psychické prežívanie pacientov, pracovné uplatnenie a každodenné aspekty života. Bakalárska práca je zameraná na život a subjektívne prežívanie jedinca s diagnostikovanou sklerózou multiplex. Ďalej sa zameriava na popis špecifík ošetrovateľskej starostlivosti o pacienta s touto diagnózou. Práca je rozdelená na teoretickú a praktickú časť. Teoretická časť práce sa venuje ochoreniu z klinického hľadiska. Obsahuje typy a priebeh ochorenia, históriu, epidemiológiu, príčiny, príznaky, diagnostiku a liečbu. Teoretická časť práce sa ďalej zaoberá špecifikami ošetrovateľskej starostlivosti o pacientov so sklerózou multiplex. Praktická časť spracovaná vo forme kazuistiky, popisuje subjektívne prežívanie pacientky s diagnostikovanou sklerózou multiplex. Sú tu zachytené dôležité etapy z jej života, prvé príznaky, diagnostika, liečba, progresia ochorenia a momenty z denného života. Dáta boli získané neštandardizovaným rozhovorom s pacientkou a taktiež zo zdravotnej dokumentácie.
